Program Deadline

Priority Deadlines: Fall - February 1st • Spring - September 1st

(Filing your application by the priority deadline ensures your consideration for institutional scholarships.  While we encourage all students to file by these dates, students who either have undergraduate credit from non-US institutions and/or require student or exchange visas must apply by the priority deadline.  Other students may still be considered beyond the priority deadline; click here for specific details.)

An applicant for graduate admission is expected to hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, comparable in standard and content to a bachelor’s degree from Hunter College. Degrees granted on the basis of work completed at institutions which are not fully accredited, or on the basis of non-academic prior learning, test scores, and other than organized supervised course work in academic subjects will not be considered comparable.

In addition, each applicant is expected, at minimum, to have a “B” average for courses in the area of specialization, an overall “B minus” average for the baccalaureate, and a “B” average for any courses taken on the graduate level.  International applicants are expected to demonstrate above average scholarship.  Furthermore, applicants to the School of Arts and Sciences usually must have a minimum of 18 credits of preparation in the area of specialization. Additional program requirements can be found in the program sections of this application
